Leadership Austin: Power, Equity and Philanthropy

Wednesday, February 12th 2020

The 2018 Greater Austin Civic Health Index™ report explored how the strength of a community is based on relationships with each other through giving, volunteering and being involved. Approximately 68% of Austin area residents reported donating money to charitable organizations and on average volunteered 8.7 hours per month.

Despite best practices or intentions, systemic inequities continue to persist in philanthropy. Structural parameters can make access to resources a challenge for underrepresented organizations and individuals.

Leaderhip Austin's Engage Breakfast monthly discussion series discusses why equity matters in philanthropy and explore whether the act of giving time, talent and treasure is enough to transform systems. Moderated by Decibel's Judy Maggio .
