Leading The Others

Thursday, October 24th 2019

When Lyndon B. Johnson started White Cane Safety Day in the 60's, it was to raise public awareness about the visually impaired community. Today, it's a full-fledged celebration, with the Texas School For The Blind and Visually Impaired hosting one of the biggest White Cane Day events in Texas...and maybe the world. Marches take place all over Austin, showing that the blind can navigate traffic, hold marches, and even lead a cheer or two.

Community journalism doesn’t happen without community support.
